Yoga
Breathing is a very important and powerful tool in Yoga. In our classes we will use the Breath of Fire to oxygenate the blood, clean out the lungs and maximize the benefits of our yoga. The Breath of Fire is said to be more aerobic than aerobics!
Long Deep Breathing can release emotional holding patterns in the body and is a tonic for the nervous system. Most people breathe with only the upper third of their lungs. Long deep breathing expands the diaphragm on each inhale creating space for the breath. Breath is the light of life!
There are a variety of poses, exercises and breathing with movement techniques in our practice of Yoga. As patterns and traumas begin to be processed out, part of you might resist but push on and through: don’t let old habits assert themselves.
No matter if you are a beginner or seasoned expert, you will find something in this system of exercise and meditation. I have found no other regime that so fully integrates body mind and spirit.
This class seeks to create an open yet personal space for people to experience their workout. You are not judged on how fit or flexible you are. People are meant to experience this class in the way that works best for them, participating at whatever level is comfortable. Remember, don’t do more than you’re ready for, but be willing to do a bit more than you thought you could!
Wear comfortable clothes. Natural fibers are best.
Don’t eat 2-3 hours before practicing yoga.
Never practice yoga under the influence of drugs or alchohol. Consult your physical if you are taking medication.
Don’t aggravate an existing injury. Be careful and creative in working around the injury. Most poses can be modified to fit your needs.
